나의 작업은 나무에 대한 사유(思惟)이다.
인도네시아 고산의 밀림에서, 수명을 다한 오랜 세월 형성된 재질과의 만남이고, 손질한 흔적이다.
나무를 깎고 다듬는 것은 나무마다 지닌 형태와 특성을 존중하여 더욱 나무다운 아름다움 자체로 부활시키는 일이다.
나무마다 살아온 이야기를 보여주는 나이테와 만져지는 촉각으로 실체를 느낄 수 있게 표면을 곱게 다듬었다
나무의 실체를 드러내는데 걸림들이 될만한 자연계에 있는 유기적인 형태의 의미나 이미지와 무관한 탈(脫) 이미지 조형적 작업이다.

My work is a contemplation of wood.
It is an encounter with a material that has been shaped over many years, having reached the end of its life in the highland jungles of Indonesia, and the traces of my intervention.
Carving and refining the wood is an act of respecting the form and characteristics inherent in each piece, allowing it to be reborn in its truest, most beautiful expression as wood.
I have smoothed the surface to reveal the story of each tree through its growth rings, allowing its essence to be felt through touch.
This is a non-representational sculptural work, stripping away any symbolic meaning or imagery that might obscure the true essence of the wood, unrelated to the organic forms or meanings found in the natural world.
