For me, drawing is a way of uncovering and exploring what I already know. It's akin to the satisfaction of satisfying a hunger with a familiar taste. The visual inspiration for a subject often relates to an image that has settled within me, much like how a memorable meal can evoke past experiences. Art, when considered in a social and practical context, often serves to bring to light something the viewer was previously unaware of. When I engage with a subject and create a piece, I don't try to define it explicitly; instead, I allow it to remain as it is, reflecting an inner connection through the object. This process helps me discover the essence of my own understanding. The material I work with becomes a means to explore and express what I know, with this understanding guiding me to make what I see more visible and meaningful.

적어도 나에겐 그림을 그린다는 것은 아는 것을 드러내고 찾는 것이 확실하다.

마치 배고플 때 생각나고 찾는 아는 맛처럼 말이다.

사물에 대한 시각적 영감은 나도 모르게 내 속 어딘가 자리 잡고 있는 심상과 연결된다.

마치 까마득한 옛날 우연히 맛있게 먹었던 그 어떤 음식과 같은, 어떤 사물들은 그 기억을 되살리게 한다. 예술이 사회적으로 실제로 역할론적 의미를 부여한다면 관람자 혹은 참여자 자신도 의식하지 못했던 그 무엇을 구체화하는 것이 아닐까 생각된다.

난 사물을 접하고 작품에 임할 때 대상을 구체화하기 보다는 그 사물을 통해 내 속에 그 무엇과 연결되어있는 나의 행위를 방치하듯 내 버려둔다.

행위를 통해 내 속에 있는 아는 맛, “아는 것”을 찾는다.

나에게 보이는 것은 아는 것을 찾는 소재이고, 아는 것은 보이는 것을 보이게 하는 직접적 작품의 시작이다.
