지난 세기 중반부터 현재까지 현대쿠바도자기의 역사를 소장하고 있는 국립 현대 도자기박물관의 박물관장인 Surisday Reyes Martinez는 Habana Matres Festival 행사를 주관하며 여러 유럽나라의 도예가와 아시아에서는 한국도예작가들을 초대하였습니다.
한국의 문화가 미국의 바로 아래에 위치한 쿠바에서도 대단한 관심의 대상이며 한국여성도예가에게 한국 도자예술을 알 수 있는 전시와 웍샵, 세미나 요청으로 초대장을 받았습니다.(김금선, 정충미, 송영자, 이옥환, 어윤미,문기숙)
초대된 도예가들은 여성의 상징주의에서 영감을 받은 작품을 제작할 의무가 있으며 제작된 작품의 도자 테크닉과 컨셉을 발표해야 한다는 주제가 있습니다.
도예가들은 개인적인 경험으로부터 시작하는 여성오브제이야기등의 생각의 형태를 창조적으로 작업하는 예술, 문화, 공예로 표현하는 기회가 될것이며 우리는 한국적 도자예술을 표현함으로서 쿠바와의 문화교류를 시작할것입니다.
전시행사가 끝나고 6월 30일까지의 전시후에 박물관에서 구입을 할 경우 Musio Nacional de la Ceramica Contemporanea Cubana로 이동하여 영구 박물관 소장이 됩니다.
초대장에 적힌 전시의 목적에 의하면 가장 다양한 기원인 도예분야에서 여성의예술 및 공예활동에대한 Ceramica Mujer Project를 진흥시키는 것입니다.
또한 초대장에는 전시의 주제는 고대부터 미래까지 여성의 상징성은 성찰하며 현대적 버전과 함께 재발견되는 오브제로 창의적이고 예술, 문화 및 공예에서의 동시대성과 연결되는 가치를 추구하는 것이다라고 되어 있습니다.
이번 쿠바에서의 초청은 국립도자박물관에서 초대되었고 아직은 우리나라와 외교가 없는 나라이지만 그러기에 더욱 의미가 있고 예술 문화를 교류할 수 있는 기회이며 한국도예가로서 첫 번째 초대예술전시가 될것입니다. 더욱이 유럽의 많은 도예가들도 같이 참석함으로서 좀더 세계적으로 폭넓게 문화와 예술을 교류할수 있는 장이 될것입니다.
