"Reflections of Home" 의 연작들이 "Welcome to My Sanctuary" 라는 제목으로 여러가지 스토리를 담아 만들어졌습니다. 아름다운 계절 가을에 여러분들과 소박한 이야기를 함께 나누고 싶습니다.

"창밖에서 들여다보는 아늑한 공간, 누군가의 삶이 녹아있는 보금자리인 '집'은 언제나 내게 특별한 느낌을 안겨 주는 소재이다. 이에 집집마다 다른 독특한 스타일을 디자인화하여 숨 쉬는 생명체로 의인화시키거나 단순화시키고, 그 안에 스토리를 담는 이 작업 과정은 참 즐겁다.
작품 안에서의 조형물들은 다양한 형식으로, 실제 집 구조의 복잡성을 띄기도 하지만, 아주 단순하고 상징적인 도형으로 구성되기도 한다. 한편, 건물 내부에서 창문과 벽의 열린 공간을 통해 바깥 세상을 바라보는 내면세계로 부터의 시각과 관점도 존재한다.
작품 제작의 시작은 한결같이 나무판 위에 밑그림을 그리기 시작하면서이다. 그리고, 작품에 따라 나무판자를 덧대어 붙이거나 모델링 페이스트를 굳혀 그 위에 다시 채색을 하는 등의 부분 입체를 가미한다. 이것은, 빛의 각도에 따라 그림자의 깊이가 조금씩 달라지는 시각적인 재미를 더하는 동시에, 가까이에서 자세히 들여다보거나 만져보면서 직접 작품을 느낄 수 있는 즐거움을 제공하기 위함이다." - 신일아 작가노트 2019

"The beauty of houses and the meaning of homes have always captured my attention. I explore the different styles of houses, and it inspires me to create them as characters that tell their own stories. In my work, houses are either simple structures with basic shapes or perfectly completed forms but all intended to express thoughts, to convey emotions, and to reflect life. My work always begins with drawing on wood panel, and I use additional materials, such as birch wood panels or modeling paste to elevate surfaces for more interesting texture and shading effects. Therefore, it invites viewers to approach the art and to appreciate and to discover the finer details" - Erah Shin Artist Statement 2019
