예술(藝術)은 본성(本性)을 찾아 가는 길(道)이라 할 수 있는데 길은 사람을 향해 열려 있는 통로이며, 그것은 사람과 사람 사이의 끊임없는 소통을 의미한다. 소통하는 것은 열려 있다는 것, 하나로 이어진다는 것, 공동체적인 것이다. 도(道)는 사람 내면의 아주 자연스러운 이치이며, 근본적인 사람 마음속의 흐름을 따라가 닫혀 있는 내면을 열고 치유하는 아름다운 방식이다. 그것은 삶을 예술과 가깝고 친근하게 하며, 또한 예술은 우리의 삶을 치유하게 한다. 삶과 밀착된 예술, 그러면서도 높은 경지에 있는 원초적 예술의 힘을 도(道)라 한다.
예술은 내면 깊은 곳에서 들리는 장엄한 울림, 하나로 아우를 수 있는 강렬한 울림이다.
회화예술은 표면적으로 유형의 세계에서 이루어지지만 유형한 모든 존재는 무형에서 비롯되고 형이 없는 도(道)에서 생긴 것이라고 본다.
서양의 화면이 원심력을 갖는 분석적 방법에 의해, 존재하는 형태에서 완성을 이루는 반면, 동양은 도(道)라는 핵으로 집중하는 구심력에 의해 방법이나 과정이 생략된 결과의 제시이며, 미와 기욕(嗜慾)이 왕성하게 드러나는 것 보다는 형을 신비로운 적막 속에 끌어들여 담담하고 정적인 데서의 미를 구하고 있다. 동서양의 미를 아울러 물질적 대상들은 주위 공간의 구조를 결정할 뿐만 아니라, 서로 보완 관계 속에서 존재와 본성을 얻게 되고 그 가치가 있다. 이것이 자연의 법칙과 순리이며 자연에서 얻을 수 있는 조형미인 것이다. 같은 공간에서 유형과 무형은 상호간의 작용으로 화면은 무한한 생명력을 갖게 되며, 우리의 삶을 영위하기 위한 의사소통의 방식은 다양하나 예술이라는 의사소통 방식은 의식과 무의식의 정체성을 자연스럽게 표출함으로써 자신의 진정한 모습을 발견할 수 있는 표현 방식이 되는 것이다.
본인의 작품 하나하나는 보편적인 삶의 일상에서 일어나는 순간들이다. 모든 과거의 기억과 사물에 대한 경험은 하나의 이미지로 압축된다. 어린시절 추억과 삶의 질곡에서 얻은 감성과 사물에 대한 낭만적인 환상이 사실표현을 통해서 배어 나오길 원하며, 자연과의 교감을 통해 얻어진 순화된 정서와 일상적이며 평범한 사물들에 대한 애착으로 내 주위에 있는 모든 것들을 화지(畵紙)위에 옮기고 무상한 시간의 흐름을 순간순간 포착하여 영원한 이미지로 남기고자 한다.

또한 내면 심리에 집중함으로써 느끼고 지각하는 정신세계를 작품을 통해 드러내며 상호 교통의 한 방식으로 진솔한 목소리들이 전달되고 소통되어지고자 한다. 인물의 표정은 우리들의 공통된 삶과 애환을 가장 솔직하게 나타내며, 현실감 넘치는 삶의 표정을 객관적 표현으로 재현하여 실제감을 주며, 이를 극대화하기 위해 선과 여백이 갖는 조형성을 부여하고자 한 것이다.
동양적인 공간운용과 서양적인 대상표현을 물이라는 매체를 이용한 수채화작품을 통해, 서양 리얼리즘의 전통과 동양의 수묵의 정서를 조화시키려는 점에서도 동서양의 상생(相生)의 미학을 이야기하고자 한다. 작품이 동서양과 세대를 불문하고 호소될 수 있는 점은 본인의 작품 속에 녹아 있는 인간과 삶에 대한 진정한 리얼리티 때문이라고 생각된다.
회화에 있어서 허(虛)와 실(實)은 상대적인 것이지만 조화와 통일을 시킴으로써 상보관계를 이루게 되어 더 좋은 미감(美感)을 창출할 수 있다고 사료된다.

Art can be said to seek the way[dao] of true character. The way is the opened path toward people, and it indicates continuous communication between people. Communication means openness, oneness and community. The way is a very natural reason of human beings and a beautiful method of curing the inner world of people according to the basic mind. The way makes living close to art, and also art cures our living. Art which is closely connected to the living and basic power of art which locates at the upper world can be said the way.
Art is sublime echo heard from the inner world and strong echo which makes oneness. Fine art forms from material beings, but the all material beings occur from the immaterial and formless dao.
Western painting may be said that it is drawn by the analytical methods which has centrifugal force, but Eastern one by core of dao. The Western and Eastern beauty make not only the space but also the existence and character under the complementary cooperation, and those are value of it. This is the way of nature and artificial beauty from the nature. Reaction between the materiality and immateriality in the same space brings the limitless vitality. The way of expression through art is one which can be found in one's real appearance by expressing the identity of the consciousness and unconsciousness naturally even there are various way of expression for living.

Each one of my works express the moment which occur in the common livings. All the past memory and experience of the matters may be compressed in one image. I have tried to express the emotion which has been gotten from the early memory and living fetters, and paint every things surrounding me with affection to common matters which has got from the purified emotion and remain in the eternal image through catching the flowing of flying time in every moment Through the deep attention to the inner psychology, my works were tried to find the real voices of the objective and then transfer them as fine art. Facial expression is the most true joys and sorrows of the life, and objectively expression of looks was my main purpose of painting. To maximize it, techniques of using line and space was specially used for my works.
Also I have tried to express the aesthetic of mutual dependence in harmonizing the tradition of Western realism and the spirit of Eastern black and white painting through water-color painting
works using water for Eastern space use and Western object expression. My works may be appealed to the Eastern and Western together ignoring the ages because of pure reality of the common people and living melted in my works
I believe that we can accomplish the more developed aesthetic senses through the harmony and unification even the truth and untruth have opposite relationship.
