지난 여름이 유난히도 무더웠듯이 우리 미술계의 난기류도 견디기 어려울 만큼 컸습 니다. 이러한 여건 속에서도 쉬지 않고 힘겨운 창작활동에 매진한 KAMA한국현대 미술가협회 회원들이 대견하고 자랑스럽기만 합니다.

잘 알다시피 지금은 미술문화의 국제적 경쟁시대, 각양각색의 장르가 홍수처럼 범람하고 있습니다. 그럴수록 우리들은 황토색 짙은 한민족의 얼과 순수한 정체성을 구현하여 본회의 기본정신을 다지고 국내외 글로벌 미술시장에 우리의 예술문화 인프라를 구축하여 이 시대 대한민국의 긍지를 드높일 때입니다.

오동나무는 천년을 살아도 가락을 잃지 않으며 매화는 아무리 추워도 일생동안 향기를 팔지 않는다는 싯귀가 있습니다. 요즘처럼 어려운 때일수록 더 굳센 각오와 열정으로 영원한 걸작을 창출해나갑시다.

이번에도 본 행사를 위하여 아낌없는 수고와 격려를 보내주신 운영위원님들과 생명처럼 아끼는 작품을 출품해주신 회원님들께 진정으로 경의를 표함과 동시에 따뜻한 성금을 출원해주신 회원님께도 깊은 감사를 드립니다.

Last summer was unusually hot and the sufferings artists experienced this year are too much to bear. I am proud of the fellow members of KAMA, who devoted themselves to creative activities in spite of the unprecedented difficulties.

Today the world of art is flooded with all stripes of genres, faced with age of international competition. We should tide over the hardships by adhering to the identity and soul of the Korean people.  That's the only way to build up the infrastructure of Korean culture and boost our pride as a nation in the age of global community.

An ancient poet wrote "Kayagum lasts a thousand years without losing a tune. Apricot will never fail to embrace it's fragrance even in the severe cold." If we tough it out in this age of adversity, our works will be remembered as masterpieces.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the steering committee members who spared no effort for the success of this exhibition and the fellow artists of KAMA who exhibit their invaluable paintings. My thanks also go to the members who contributed donation for the event.
