P K M 갤러리는 Temporary Exhibition Space에서의 마지막 프로젝트 전시로 2015년 1원 14일부터 2월 10일까지 신민주 작가의 개인전을 개최한다. 본 전시에서는 작가의 회화 연작인 <불확정적 여백 (Uncertain Emptiness)>의 근작들을 선보일 예정이다.
‘붓질’이라는 근원적 예술행위에 천착한 회화 작품들을 꾸준히 선보여 왔던 신민주는 붓질과 실크스크린 도구인 스퀴지(squeegee) 등을 이용해 캔버스 위 안료를 밀어내는 행위를 반복하여 독특하고 강렬한 화면을 완성한다. 칠흑처럼 깊은 검은색과 맑고 선연한 흰색의 끝없는 갈등과 대화 중에 드러나는 다채로운 회색의 층위들은 작품의 독보적인 매력을 만들어낸다.
홍익대학교 회화과에서 학사 및 석사과정을 마친 신민주는 국내에서 수 차례 개인전과 그룹전에 참여했으며, 영국 런던 Knapp Gallery에서 열린 《Korean Artist Festival》에 참여한 바 있다.
