2012년의 성공적인 데뷔에 이어, <홍콩 컨템포러리>는 2013년 5월 24-27일에 두번째 에디션을 선보인다. <아트 바젤 홍콩>의 출범과 다양한 미술행사로, 5월의 이 기간은 홍콩을 너머 아시아의 대표 미술주간으로서 동시대 미술인이라면 필히 참여해야 할 축제이다. 이에 <홍콩 컨템퍼리 13>은 보다 강화된 모습으로 미술계에 다양성을 부여하고 활력을 불어 넣고자 한다.
갤러리의 부스 전시와 특별전, 아트 어워드 시상 등으로 구성된다. 홍콩, 한국, 일본, 중국, 영국, 프랑스, 인도 등 10여개국의 40개 화랑에서 새로운 감각의 작품들을 야심차게 준비한다.
주최사인 Concrete wall creation Ltd. 는 2010, 2011년 2년 연속 홍콩정부가 홍콩사회를 위해 헌신하는 기업에게 주는 상인 HSBC Business Award와 홍콩 사회봉사위원회로부터 받는 봉사기업상(Caring Company Award)을 수상했을 정도로 기업의 사회적 책임을 중요시한다. 이번 아트 페어에서는 입장료 수익의 50%를 사회적 기업인 Saint. James Settlement에 기부함으로써 이러한 취지를 살린다.
Saint. James Settlement는 홍콩 내 많은 기업과 정부의 든든한 지지를 받고 있는 기업으로, 탄탄한 홍보네트워크를 갖추고 있다. <홍콩 컨템포러리 13>에서는 Up Cycling설치 작품을 전시할 예정이다. 이는 많은 작가들의 예술적 감각이 Up cycling 디자인과 접목될 수 있는 좋은 기회를 제공할 것이다.
지난해에 홍콩 미술계의 큰 관심을 받았던, ‘홍콩 컨템포러리 미술상’은 올해도 계속된다. 수상한 홍콩작가에게는 아시아나 항공의 후원으로 홍콩, 한국간 왕복 항공권과 한국에서의 레지던시 프로그램 기회가 주어진다.
특별전 <Emerging Artists>에서는 유망 있는 작가들을 공모, 심사하여 전시한다. 이는 미술상 시상작가들과 연계되어 신진작가만의 젊은 감각이 연출될 것이다.
또한, 국내에서는 홍콩 재력가의 딸로 알려진지지차오
(Gigi Chao:https://sports.donga.com/3/all/20120927/49716513/2 )가 미술계에 입문한 배우 구혜선과 특별전을 꾸린다. 사업가이자 화가로, 영화배우이자 화가로 활동하는 두 여인이 캔버스에 담은 스토리는 무엇인지 기대된다. 작년 하정우에 이어 영화계 인사의 전시가 이어지는 명맥으로, 최근 부산 국제영화제 관련기관에서 협력제의가 들어오기도 했다.
많은 기업과 단체에서의 후원과 협력으로, 행사의 기반을 단단히 다지고 있다. AIA, 아시아나 항공, 각국 상공회는 지난해에 이어 적극적인 지지를 전하였다. 또한 아트 인 아시아, 아트인 컬쳐, 홍콩 매거진, 경향 아티클, 태그보트(Tagboat), 타임아웃, 홍콩수요저널 등 유수의 미디어사에서 공식 후원을 약속하였다.
아시아 미술주간, 홍콩의 5월에 열리는 대표 호텔아트페어로서, 그에 걸맞은 신선하면서도 강력한 행사를 기대하시기 바란다.

With the success of its hot debut in 2012, Hong Kong Contemporary will once again provide an interacting platform for art lovers around the world in 2013.
Hong Kong Contemporary wishes that the Chinese New Year of the snake would bring the peace, joy and good fortune to you and your family.
In the meantime, Hong Kong Contemporary 2013 has updated many programs organized for the upcoming art fair. HKC 2013 will be held during May 24th to 27th for four consecutive days in the Excelsior Hotel.
HKC is promoting Art Award once again in this following year. For the nominated artists, HKC will arrange and provide the best-quality facilities and accommodations for them to solely concentrate on producing arts.
This year, HKC has invited another renowned Korean celebrity, Ku Hye-Sun, to be participated in our art fair as a special guest. Ku was originally known as an actress, yet she also distinguished herself as a movie director, novel writer and artist. Ku will display several art works of hers in the exhibition for the audience to enjoy during the HKC art fair.
Invited as another special guest, Niko de la Faye is performing his M2B project of “show-sculpture” this year. This mobile kinetic sculpture installed on a Chinese tricycle already traveled 1600km from Beijing to Shanghai, and it will arrive in Hong Kong within several weeks for the opening of HKC 13.
HKC 13 furthermore joined the partnership with Saint James’ Settlement Hong Kong. Saint James’ Settlement is a multi social service agency providing vast range of welfare services for the communities and individuals. HKC will also participate in the corporation’s recently promoted, up-cycling charity project, and will donate half of the profit earned from the admission fee. Investing in such social enterprise, HKC aims to develop a more friendly and humanistic theme that both the society and the organizations can benefit hand in hand.
