작가는 주변 삶의 흔적 (오랜 벽의 흔적, 벽과 함께 자라나는 담쟁이, 다채로운 색의 꽃, 물과 바람이 있는 풍경 등) 과 책과 사진 등에서 얻은 여러 시각적인 자극들을 자신만의 감성으로 재해석하여 풍부한 질감과 색의 조화로움을 통한 자신만의 이야기를 캔버스 위에 탄생시키고 있다. 오랜 시간(30년) 패션 디자인을 통해 얻어진 다채롭고 감각적인 색의 사용과 작가 특유의 자유분방한 필력은 거칠지만 유연함이 느껴지는 마띠에르를 형성해 내고 있으며 이는 김정희 작가가 가진 감성을 충실히 드러내 주는 요소가 되어 작품으로 탄생된다.

작가는 스스로 자신의 작업에 대해 지극히 주관적인 색의 인상을 통해 가장 아름답고 평화로운 감정을 표현하는 예측 불허한 과정이라고 한다. ‘모네’의 작업이 작가에게 더할 것 없이 평화롭고 아름다웠던 것처럼, 자신 스스로에게, 혹은 누군가에게 아름다움이 전해지길 바라는 마음을 작품에 담고 있다. 작가의 주변 많은 시각적 자극들은 색으로 인식되고, 이러한 색에 이끌려 작업을 시작한다. 그래서 김정희 작가의 작업은 색 연작으로 구분된다. 철저히 계획하여 구상한 그림이 아닌 처음의 자유로운 감성이 붓질을 끌어내고 시간의 흐름에 따라 자유롭게 변화한 그림이 김정희 작가의 그림이며, 이 과정에서 발현되는 다채로운 감정의 변화에 따라 자유롭게 그림은 그 모습을 찾아간다. 이는 작가의 그간의 인생과도 닮아있다.

Junghee Kim has been expressing various textures and harmony of colors through reconstructing in her own sensitivity of many visual stimuli taken from the traces of her surroundings (trace of old wall, ivy creeping on the wall, colorful flower, landscape of water and wind, etc.), books and photos. Her ability of selecting the colorful and sensitive colors which has been obtained from her long period of life as a fashion designer and her distinctive and unrestricted brushstroke forms a rough but pliable matiere which perfectly reveals her sensitivity as an artist.

The artist explains that her works is the unexpected process during which she express her highly subjective impression of colors in the most beautiful and peaceful manners. In this words, there contains the artist's wish that through her works, beauty would be conveyed to herself or someone else, as Monet's works conveyed very truly peaceful and beautiful feelings to himself. Many visual stimuli are arranged in colors and the artist begins her works driven by the colors. So, the works of artist Jeong Hee Kim consist of color series. Her works are not ones that were thoroughly planned or designed, but ones that she brushed in her original sensitivity and that changed freely over time. Painting comes to be completed following the artist's various emotions freely changing in this process.
