눈부시게 발전하는 컴퓨터와 기계의 발전은 예술의 장르에도 많은 영향을 미치고 있으며, 기존 예술의 장르에서는 다룰 수 없었던 새로운 기술적 발전은 특히 미디어 아트를 미래의 예술로 떠오르게 했다. 그 중에서도 컴퓨터와 영상의 설치작업에 의해 관객과의 유기적 상호작용을 기본 개념으로 하고 있는 ‘인터렉티브’ 영상 설치는 특히 미래지향적인 예술로서 그 미학적 가치와 시각적 잠재력이 무궁무진하다고 할 수 있다. 전세계적으로 컴퓨터와 영상시대를 위한 새로운 실험적 예술 장르로서 이 분야의 예술과 작가들에게 많은 관심을 기울이고 있다. 이벤트, 해프닝, 퍼포먼스, 시츄에이션으로 표현할 수 있는 우리 삶 자체의 예술의 실현의 하나이자 우리 의식의 허점을 과감하게 뚫고 들어가 전복시키고 환기시키는 힘을 보여주고 있다. 이러한 의미에서 이번 전시는 2010년 뱅쿠버 동계올림픽 초청 작가이며, 세계적인 인터렉티브 아티스트로 알려진 '돈 리터'를 초청하여 그의 작업을 전시와 퍼포먼스 공연을 통해 직접 경험해보고, 한국예술에 있어서 인터렉티브 예술에 새로운 도화선을 제공하고, 진정한 미래지향적 예술에 대한 실험적이면서 동시에 다양한 담론의 장의 펼치고자 한다.

Intersecting line은 수학적 용어로 두 개 이상의 입체가 만나서 또 다른 입체를 형성하는 그 지점을 말한다. 이 개념은 현대인들의 일상적으로 고착된 모든 종류의 의식의 지점을 건드려 불편하게 하기, 사유, 상상, 지각, 행위 등을 통해 의미를 획득해가는 과정을 보여주는 전시에 적용하고자 한다. 특히 돈 리터(Don Ritter)와 함께 전시를 이끌어갈 이호진 작가는 도시공간 속에서 반복되는 불안정한 현대인들의 모습을 감각적 드로잉을 통해 새로운 공간 퍼포먼스를 실천하고 있는데, 이는 우리 시대에 제기되고 있는 예술적, 미학적 면면을 다양하게 살펴볼 수 있는 계기가 될 것이다. 더불어 일찍이 뉴욕 유학시절부터 인터렉티브 뮤지션으로서도 활동해온 계수정(Soojung Kae)피아니스트와의 공연은 그동안 시도 되어왔던 시각과 청각의 탈 장르적 미래예술의 완성을 감상할 수 있는 기회가 될 것이다.
