추상회화에서의 작품에 대한 표현의지는 시간성, 공간성, 상징 등의 표현적 연계성에 입각하여 작가의 독자적인 언어로 서술되어진다.
백지희의 그림은 추상이면서도 매우 구체적인 이야기를 담고 있다. 형식적이며 건조한 추상화의 틀에서 벗어나 유연한 언어로 이미지에 에너지와 생동감을 부여한다. 작가는 회화의 근간에 충실하면서 그 추상회화를 내밀하게 자기화한다. 자기 고백적이고 타자와의 관계에 대한 예민한 반응의 결정으로 단호하게 자리하고 있다.
평면의 깊은 곳으로부터 발현된 깊은 상흔들은 흘러내리는 물감자국 위에 실타래처럼 엉켜있는 이미지에서부터 좀 더 유연한 원형들의 구성이 이뤄내는 미묘한 환영과 공간의 깊이 속으로 들어가고 있다. 그것은 시간의 지층과 마음의 여러 겹, 부유하는 생각과 말들로, 여전히 균형과 긴장을 가져다준다. 평면들 간의 균형에 대한 탐구와 색채의 순수성을 유지하면서도 대상 없이 확장된 이미지가 어떻게 한 개인의 모든 것을 표현할 수 있는 지를 보여주고 있는 것이다.
