선택 되어진 풍경
전시에 표현된 ‘선택 되어진 풍경’은 나에 의해 의미를 갖습니다. 파노라마로 존재하던 공기 중의 잔상은 장면으로 화폭에 담겨 이름 지어집니다. 모든 나의 작품들의 연결고리는 나로 향합니다. 나에 의해 인연이 되어 수많은 장면 중에 선택되었습니다. 나는 이 많은 장면들에서 나를 발견합니다. 그리고 숨을 쉽니다.
작가노트 - 전시개요
저의 작업은 한국적인 소재와 미감을 작가의 방식으로 해석, 표현하여 그 안에서 나와 우리의 정체성을 만나는 여정입니다. 작업은 천년 동안 보존되는 도자회화로 제작되어 소중히 간직한다는 의미를 갖습니다. 오랜 외국 생활에서 느낀 고국에 대한 애틋함은 한국에서 지낼 때보다 더 컸습니다. 다른 문화를 가진 사람들 속에서 ‘한국’은 ‘나’와 동의어가 됩니다. 나를 설명하는 것 안에 한국이 있습니다. 삶이 자신을 알아가는 과정이라고 한다면, 저는 자신을 알아가기 위한 방법으로서 한국적인 소재와 미감을 선택합니다.
작품의 장면들은, 저의 시선을 머물게 했던 고궁의 풍경과 조형물들의 상징 안에 담겨있는 옛 사람들의 지혜와 마음, 또한 그 마음이 전하고자 했던 따뜻한 온기를 저의 작품에 표현하고 있습니다. 고궁의 지붕을 장식하는 잡상은 안전하게 궁을 지키는 의미를 가지고 있습니다. 네 방위를 지키는 사신도와 호작도는 벽사의 의미를 가지고 있어 우리에게 평안을 줍니다. 봄에 궁을 화려하게 장식해주는 모란꽂은 부귀와 영화를 상징하여 우리의 삶을 더욱 풍성하게 해줍니다.
삶을 평안하고 안전하게 풍요롭고 행복하게 살고자 하는 인간의 마음은 예나 지금이나 다를 바 없습니다. 그리하여 우리 선조들은 좋은 의미를 담은 그림들을 새해에 연하장처럼 서로 전하는 따뜻한 전통이 있었습니다. 저는 이러한 마음을 작품을 통해 표현하고 전하고자 합니다.

Selected scenery
‘Selected scenery’ has meaning through me. The afterimage in the air that existed as a panorama is captured on canvas as a scene and given a name. The link of all my works leads to me. They were chosen among countless scenes by me. I find myself in these many scenes. And I breathe.
Artist's Note - Exhibition Overview
My work is a journey to meet my identity and ours through the artist's interpretation and expression of Korean materials and aesthetics. The work is created as a ceramic painting that will be preserved for a thousand years, meaning it is meant to be cherished. The longing for my homeland that I felt while living abroad for a long time was greater than when I lived in Korea. Among people with different cultures, 'Korea' becomes synonymous with 'me'. Korea is something that describes me. If life is a process of getting to know yourself, I choose Korean materials and aesthetics as a way to get to know myself.
The scenes in the work express the wisdom and hearts of the ancient people contained in the symbols of the palace landscape and sculptures that caught my attention, as well as the warmth that those hearts wanted to convey. The miscellaneous statues that decorate the roofs of the palaces have the meaning of safely protecting the palaces. The four guardian deities and Hojkado that protect the four directions have the meaning of a wall, giving us peace. Peonies, which decorate the palace in spring, symbolize wealth and glory, enriching our lives.
The human desire to live a peaceful, safe, prosperous, and happy life is no different from the past or present. Therefore, our ancestors had a warm tradition of sending pictures with good meanings to each other like New Year's cards. I want to express and convey this heart through my work.
